Planned Professional Sports Stadiums and Arenas: New Tennessee Titans Stadium
BuildCentral tracks planned construction across all verticals, and planned pro sports stadiums/arenas are no exception. We’re tracking various planned pro sports stadium projects, as well as the companies and decision-makers behind them. Plus, we analyze the construction impact on other nearby developments. Here’s all the data we have on the new Tennessee Titans stadium.
Nissan Stadium, an open-air concrete-and-steel stadium which seats 69,000, has served as the home venue for the Tennessee Titans since its opening in 1999. When discussing the need for a new stadium, Titans’ team president Burke Nihill explained, “For example, the stadium’s structural frame was built with concrete and needs to be largely replaced with steel. The mechanical, plumbing and electrical systems need to be completely replaced. The window system throughout the building is so antiquated that it is not even manufactured anymore.”
The $2.1 billion new stadium will be located across from the current Nissan Stadium between Russell St and Shelby Ave. The goal is for the stadium, which will be 1.7 million square feet and seat about 60,000 fans, to be ready in time for the 2028 season. With the new stadium comes new construction and infrastructure projects around it, which we’ll get to shortly.
