Montpelier Hampton Inn groundbreaking set for spring 2018
A spring 2018 groundbreaking is planned for a Hampton Inn in Montpelier, Vermont. The building will include 84 rooms and a new parking garage. It’s a $17 million project that local leaders expect to add to the revitalization of the city’s downtown district.
The new hotel will be located adjacent tot he Capitol Plaza Hotel on State Street. Both hotels will be operated by the Bashara family.

The city is hoping to eventually expand the garage to include more spots.
“I’m hoping that we can make it a little larger to accommodate the needs for people who come to visit Montpelier,” said Montpelier Mayor John Hollar.
Fred Bashara the new hotel could add foot traffic to the shops in Downtown Montpelier.
“You got 160 to 200 people walking in the door and it’s not of course, every night. 60 to 70 people, that’s what you’ll end up seeing buying in the shops.”
